Being healthier has never been so much fun and easy. Is not about dieting is a more about taking care of your body. In today's crazy world sometimes being healthier means you need time. Time to cook homemade, time to shop in specialty groceries store, time to chop, etc.. This is true and actually it would be good to stop for a moment and take time off for yourself. However, sometimes there is really not much time. And if you are a mom, forget about it! Time is of the essence.
In this post I will show you a practical way to prepare healthy and delicious smoothies that you can have any time of the day. That way you have no excuse for not having a good serving of fruits and veggies every day. I usually have a smoothie, either before a workout or as a snack. You can also have it as a meal, but in that case you might need to add a veggie protein powder to make it more complete.
I suggest doing this prep as soon as you come from the supermarket, this way the food is fresh and easy to manage. Choose 4 to 5 ingredients, about 10 zip locks and a scoop. Try to use organic produce as possible. A place that I adore, and will have another post on that exclusively, is Trader Joe's.
Here is the process step by step.
Mixed berries smoothie
kale + mixed red berries + banana + almond milk
STEP 1:
Get your bag of Organic Kale, wash them throughly and get a hand full of kale leaves and start packing them inside the zip lock bags.
STEP 2:
Add a scoop of organic mixed frozen berries to each bag.
STEP 3:
Finally add the banana to for the extra sweet taste. I usually add half banana per bag. This means you will need at least 5 bananas for the 10 packs.
Close all zip locks and place them into the freezer. Now you have a nutritious smoothie every day. You just have to take the package out of the freezer, empty it into the blender and add 1 cup of organic almond milk, preferably unsweetened.
For the extra boost add any of the following super foods:
- Maca powder (will not make any difference in the flavor, but will definitely boost it)
- Flax seeds (will add texture and make it thicker)
- Chia seeds (will add texture)
Here is another combination that will work well with your pre-packaged smoothies.
Green Smoothie:
spinach + peeled green apple + pineapple + coconut water
Now enjoy and discover new combinations to make your 1 minute smoothie every day.
Cheers and good vibes for a healthier year!
